To promote their new Big Nate TV show, Nickelodeon had a pretty simple brief.

  1. No video assets since the show didn’t exist yet.

  2. The idea had to lean into Big Nate’s reputation as a prankster

  3. Be something a 13 year old would like.

As it so happened, my partner Tommy Kester and I were both fans of the OG Big Nate comic strip and also had the minds of 13 year olds when we came up with these prank invasion ideas for Nickelodeon’s social media channels.

Big Nate has a band called Fear The Mollusk. We thought it’d be great to expose the world to their music via Spotify.

I did not come up with the song titles. I, too, am surprised by which songs took off.

We couldn’t use video assets but they were fine with assets from the comic strip…
